Biblical Clarity on Burnt Offerings, and Sage to Cleanse Energy

In the Old Testament, burnt offerings at alters were common, and incense is still used in some traditional church services; however, after God became a human man as Jesus, and chose to be the ultimate sacrifice of love, we no longer need to “offer” anything to God. Jesus’ finished work on the cross IS the offering that cleansed man of sin/evil. Using other offerings diminish the sacrifice of Jesus, because He fulfilled this concept. God would rather us remove any distractions from seeking Him through the act of fasting. The best “sacrifice” to God is to offer Him your time and attention so you can deepen your connection to Him.

Can we burn sage?

Of course! I encourage everyone to build a sacred space in their home to enjoy for prayer and meditation, and fill it with things that have special meanings, or support a positive, peaceful mindset. As your relationship with Christ grows, your totems, books, journals, and other collectibles will also grow. If you enjoy sage, candles, or essential oils as part of your Spiritual practice, use them!

Does sage clear/transmute negative or demonic energy?

Why would we need to burn a plant for that when God tells us to call upon His name to cast out demons? Power only comes from God, so no, a plant does not possess the power to remove demonic energy… but YOU do. Practice meditation and prayer, and begin using your own voice to cast out any poisons from yourself, your home, and your loved ones.

When learning ways to expand your Spiritual routines and methods, please remember:

It is a great deception of satan to entice people away from God, using seemingly innocent “tools” which have been given FALSE power. By themselves, things like sage, crystals, and human “healers” do NOT have special powers. Remember to seek the Lord, our God, in prayer, and ask HIM to give you authority over demonic energy and Spiritual warfare in your life. Verbal affirmations and faith in God’s unlimited power are the best tools for purging and cleansing. Through God, all things are possible.

Jesus casts out an unclean spirit:

21 Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught. 22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” 26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” 28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee. -Mark 1:21-28
