Divine Luminescence ~ Part One: The Holy Temple Within
Can we seek Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit of God while also inviting in other spirits such as spirit “guides,” the kundalini snake spirit, or spirits of the deceased? According to Biblical scripture, no.
“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”— Luke 16:13 KJV
For clarity, mammon is Aramaic for wealth and greed, but we know that idols come in many forms, with many names. In the beginning, God said He would provide everything that we needed. So, of course the initial temptation of mankind was… “Don’t you want more?” More of what? And from who? If God was the Crea-TOR, then the tempter was a crea-TION. A lesser power, and an obvious enemy of God’s Word. Satan projected his own selfish desires of wanting more onto us and it worked. This first deception set the stage for false spirituality to enter the scene, making obedience to God appear as a limitation, and rebellion against God appear as access to secret “stuff.” How did that work out for us?
Many people are still worshipping false gods and invoking lesser power sources to this day and calling their experiences “enlightenment” or “awakening.” Some are so sure they chose correctly that they become teachers of this false path. Others claim to follow the teachings of Jesus, calling themselves Christians or holding the title of reverend… while also inviting in spirits that are not of God. Remember, the devil intimately knows the Bible and God; He is the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Luke 16:13 says a SERVANT cannot serve two masters. False teachers are not servants of the Most High God, but are slaves to an impersonator of the Holy Spirit. A fraud. A deception. Followers of Christ Jesus and Spiritual teachers of the Gospel NEVER mix the Holy Spirit within them with any other spirit, nor do they worship or consult lesser powers like angels or supposed “guides.” Furthermore, while many religions focus on “emptying” oneself to “remove” things like fear, lust, or excess (a reasonable practice) Christianity is the only religion that gives us the answer for what to then FILL ourselves up with— the Holy Spirit. In fact, being empty is in direct conflict with Biblical instructions and warnings:
“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”— Matthew 12:43-45 NIV
This verse describes the manifestation of an endless loop of demonic spiritual influence which empty vessels are bound to. They either continue to practice emptying with no replacement filler, unknowingly inviting impure spirits in… or once emptied, will directly ask for spirits to access or enter them. Christianity aims to fill us up entirely with the Spirit of God so there is no room for anything else to enter:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”— 1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV
Humans are vessels for the Holy Spirit to dwell in. We either allow God to live within us and guide us in His will, or parasites will find their way in, using us as hosts for their schemes. We don’t safeguard the entrance to the Holy Temple— we ARE the temple.
A commonality among false spiritual paths (and the teachers of them) is revealed in the “final condition” of the person in Matthew— they are worse off than when they started. When we seek God, our mental, emotional, and physical well-being all improve rather than degrade. Even while God is molding and purifying us with lessons in difficult seasons, seeds of peace begin to grow, and sickness subsides. Many previous new age teachers are coming forward with their “new age to Jesus” testimonies and I encourage you to listen!
The internet is filled with stories of brave souls admitting to how they were deceived with false spirituality, explaining how their once beloved healing/self-development techniques left them in chaos, confusion, and turmoil of all kinds. Mental health issues, drug addiction, unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, identity dysphoria, and many other demonic attacks tormented them, plaguing their lives with darkness. These are the same people that previously called themselves masters, healers, guides, mentors, and reverends, charging money with claims of providing life-changing healing. They eventually came to the realization that without inviting God into their practices, they were not healed of their ailments, and neither were those they tried to help with the same methods. In the end, many found themselves turning to God for divine intervention because even though some worldly healing techniques may provide relief or comfort, they pale in comparison to what God has the power to do!
Be mindful. This message is not about condemning new age practices, rather about making sure that we (at minimum) INVITE the Most High to our healing sessions! Without Him, don’t expect positive results from things like meditation, reiki, or sound baths to name a few. I have personally seen the course correction God has made in some of these former teachers and most go on to create beautiful ministries, messages, artwork, and faith-based businesses. Some even apologize to their followers, revoking all that they once taught, and finally begin to walk their true path with God. Amen! Only God has the power to restore in this way!
So, which tools and methods are Biblically acceptable to incorporate into our self-development? This depends on each person’s unique path. All Spiritual practices should be done UNDER THE INSTRUCTION OF GOD with no interference from anyone or anything else. Those who are walking a genuine path with Jesus will be guided toward tools that will best develop them. This is why aligning with God leads to authentic life callings, and those on… other paths… continue to recycle the same new age “starter pack” ideas with poor results, and worse, serious consequences. What is right for you? Ask God yourself.
I will be continuing this 6-part article series into 2026, expanding on each popular new age practice:
Two: Yoga and the serpent spirit
Three: Reiki and energy work
Four: Mediumship and psychics
Five: Tarot and oracle cards
Six: Crystals/saging/oils/sound baths
I invite you to check back in as we continue to look deeper into these subjects, learning and growing together. For now, let us close with a prayer for God’s guidance:
Lord, hear our prayer
We ask that you reveal to us all false spiritual avenues with your power of discernment
We ask that you guide us toward what is correct and in alignment with your perfect will for our lives
We ask that you fill us with the light of your Holy Spirit entirely, snuffing out all darkness from entering our temples
We ask these things in Jesus’ name
Amen
With Love, Michelle
