You Are. (I Am.)
“I am” statements are powerful affirmations of our identity. They are so effective, that it’s recommended to avoid beginning sentences like this when handling intense emotional triggers.
For example, rather than saying, “I am anxious,” simply say, “There is anxiety in my energy.” This helps us to separate ourselves from the emotion being experienced and remain stabilized.
Biblical accuracy is that our true identity comes from God, and, much more than just a phrase, the “I am” was God’s statement of confirming His identity to us…
Jesus says, “I am,” in John 8 to reaffirm when God says, “I am,” in Exodus 3:14. God’s “I am” is a title of His identity, so Jesus also used it. For us to say, “I am,” without first saying/understanding/implying, “You are,” is to give ourselves the title of God, which is wrong. We are to be godly, but we are not God or demigods.
Moreover, to connect negative feelings to these statements is like us making FALSE affirmations about our own identity…
Example: “I am worthless.” If God is the original “I am” and He made us in His image, we should never begin any negative statement with “I am.” God is not worthless, so neither are we!
Example: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14) This is a positive, Biblically accurate affirmation of our identity as creations made by God! Therefore…
“You are. I am.”
Because we know who God is, we know who WE are. Today, stand up tall and make these affirmations out loud:
“I am worthy.
I am loved.
I am valuable.
I am protected.
I am accepted.
I am rare.
I am whole.
I am healed.
I am home.”
Be selective and caring with your “I am’s,” as God taught us the true meaning and power that these two little words really hold.

(This post is for everyone, but on a personal note… I chose a man for this article and song because, despite the fact that every day the enemy shows me examples of subpar men in today’s world, I am a HUGE supporter of men’s Spiritual and mental health and growth. This world, women, and children need you guys. We need you guys SO bad. Stay strong in your healing journey, kings. Love, Michelle)
